Product Details

I love using Layercake Linen yarns to knit an accessory to complement my Layercake outfits. Here is another example of an uncomplicated yet extremely effective accessory. It is completely reversible, using a technique called double-knitting.

This kit contains our Layercake Linen yarn*, spun by the same lovely people that weave more and more of our linen fabrics. The same weight as our Soliloquy Sock Lace, Layercake linen runs 600 m per 100 grams and is perfect for knitting a garment or accessory to go with your Layercake Smock, Tabard, Apron, etc.

The kit comes in 2 versions:

1. All linen (£17): a total of 100 gms of yarn, 50 gms per colour in 2 colours (indicated in the options as "AL").
2. Linen/Cumulus (£23): a total of 100 gms of yarn, 50 gms of Layercake Linen and 50 gms of Fyberspates Cumulus (indicated in the options as "LC").

The kit contains the yarns you need and a pattern.

Other materials needed:

There is a tutorial demonstrating the Dambord knitting technique on YouTube, in of my Podcast (The Slow Wardrobe on YouTube). I will expand the selection of available kit colours over time, to keep up with new Layercake colours! Currently this pattern is only available as part of a kit.

*A note about the darkest colours of Layercake Linen: I have had two reports since I started selling this linen yarn of the black rubbing off on fingers while knitting. Unlike our linen fabrics, the linen yarn is not pre-washed, so the darkest colours MAY release some excess dye stuff on your fingers. I have done a lot of knitting with the black linen and have not experienced it yet, so this obviously varies from one person to the next. You do not have to worry about the dye bleeding into any of the other colours if you wet your project.
