Landmannalaugar is a popular tourist place in the Fallback Nature Reserve East of Hekla. The area is rich in geothermal heat linked to one of Iceland´s largest geothermal heat area, the area of Torfajökull. The hot springs are at the edge of Laugahraun lava field and are joined in a wide and still brook which is a natural bathing spot. A popular hiking route, Laugavegurinn, lies between Landmannalaugar and the Þórsmörk National Park.
